One of the most controversial civil arguments in politics in the past decade would have to be the legalization of marijuana. The sale and production of marijuana have been legalized for medicinal uses in over twenty states and has been legalized for recreational uses in seven states. Despite the ongoing support for marijuana, it has yet to be fully legalized in the federal level due to cultural bias against â€Å"pot† smoking and the focus over its negative effects. However, legalizing marijuana has been proven to decrease the rate of incrimination in America, it has stimulated the job market while bringing tax revenue up, and it has been shown to have medicinal benefits to healthy American adults and certain children Critics claim that the legalization of marijuana of a federal level would inevitably cause crime rates to increase due to its psychoactive effects on the brain. Despite popular theory, legalizing marijuana is proven to decrease the rate of incrimination from marijuana possession in the United States.
